Music & Fashion: Buddy Holly

52 years ago today the world tragically lost Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and J. P. "The Big Bopper" Richardson (as well as pilot Roger Peterson) in a plane crash. Luckily we can always remember these three exceptionally talented individuals through their music. Music that inspired many of the musicians and bands that would help shape the future of Rock'n'Roll.

"You know the levy ain't dry and the music didn't die, Buddy Holly lives every time we play rock'n'roll." - From Buddy's childhood friend & bandmate Sonny Curtis's song "The Real Buddy Holly Story"

Like generations of musicians this Polyvore set was inspired by Buddy Holly.

Music, Fashion & The New Year

I hope everyone had a fantastic time ring a ding dinging in 2011! Can you believe we're officially into another decade?? Well my NYE was fantastic good friends, good music, balloons and free champagne you can't go wrong with a combo like that. However I did also seem to ring in the new year with a bit of a cold which is a little crappy but I guess I shouldn't have bragged to my family at Xmas that "I never get colds". Cause that line sure turned around and bit me in the derrière! Anyway my head is a little too stuffed right now to bring you an eloquent Vegan Fashion In 2010 Review but I do promise to write it sometime this week. So until then I bring you this easy peasy post featuring a polyvore set inspire by the lovely songstress Adele. Adele sure can sing and will be debuting her second album on Feb 22nd 2011. If her new album is as amazing as her song Rolling In The Deep featured in the video below we are in for a treat. Rolling In The Deep is currently on repeat on my iphone's ipod. Love it!

Music & Fashion: Joe Strummer

8 years ago today, musical genius and all around amazing human being Joe Strummer passed away. Joe's love for all kinds of music showed in he's own tunes which were a combo of punk, reggae, blues & good old rock'n'roll. Joe was not just a musical icon he was also a fashion icon because like most musicians he had a unique look of his own, a look that has inspire the vegan Polyvore set below. You are missed Joe and you will always be remembered through your amazing music and your strong belief that this crazy world we live in can be a better place. You've inspired many generations of people, myself included to stand up for what's right. The song below is one of my favs from Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros. Enjoy...

"Music can't change the world, but it can change your perspective of the world. That's what Joe [Strummer] did for me, that's what The Clash did for me" - Billy Bragg

Strummerville a registared charity was started by Joe's friends & family a year after his death. Checkout the video below or head on over to it's website to learn more about it.

Music & Fasion: The Duke Spirit

I've got music on the brain lately. I guess it's just because I love it so much. It fuels my creative work, cheers me up when I'm feeling down & in general makes life just that much better. I'm always listening to tunes that inspire me when I'm writing a fashion post. One of the bands who's tunes motivate me is The Duke Spirit. I discovered them about 5 yrs ago and since then I've been hooked on their pure Rock'N'Roll sound. I've bought every album they've put out and I'm super stoked that they have a new one coming out soon. So here's the fashion part of this post. Leila Moss the lead singer of The Duke Spirit does not just sing pure Rock'N'Roll but she wears it too. She's definitely my Rock'N'Roll style icon. Love, love, love her sense of style. The whole band (Luke Ford, Toby Butler & Oliver Betts) in general have a pretty sweet sound and pretty awesome sense of style. The video below is of my favourite song from their Neptune album and the vegan Polyvore set is inspired by Leila. I hope you enjoy both of them :).

Music & Fashion: The Noisettes

I know this is a vegan fashion blog but I love music and as a creative person it inspires me in so many different ways. Also music and fashion seem to naturally go hand in hand. Most bands/musicians have their own look and sense of style and The Noisettes are no different. The lead singer Shingai Shoniwa has both an amazing voice and a killer sense of style. The rest of the band's (Dan Smith & Jamie Morrison) style is pretty awesome too. I love this set they played for the Nylon Magazine's staff members during their lunch break. You can see Shingai's sense of style shining bright in this video. She's wearing a pair of pretty amazing shoes, that personally I would fall over in. I hope you enjoy this video as much as I do. Oh and I would love to know what musician's/band's music or style you dig. Comment below (leave a link if you got one) and I'll make sure to check them out. I'm always looking for fashion inspiration & new music to listen to.
